A Poem for my darling daughter Claire

A Poem for my darling daughter Claire

February 23, 2011 at 9:17pm

I remember the day you were born, it feels like yesterday
I looked into your beautiful face, you took my breathe away
I promised to protect you and love you your whole life through
Because you are my daughter, it’s what mothers do.
~:~
You grew into a beautiful girl, always happy and never complained
Thoughtful and generous, a quality that’s remained
You went to College, and University too
Something, you always thought, you would never do
I knew you could do it and you did it in time
I coaxed you gently I knew you’d be fine
The years quickly passed you changed and matured
You knew what you wanted, a man you adored
~:~
You’ve grew into a woman that’s beautiful and kind
A daughter I’m proud of, and to say you are mine
You’re now fighting an illness that’s making you sick
But I’m standing with you, through the thin and the thick
You will get better, with patience and time
Trust your mother she says you’ll be fine
~:~
I wish it was me, I’d go through it all
To see you pain free , and you walking tall
There’s nothing I can do, but to nurse you and pray
And help you recover for your special day
~:~
Come 10th June you will walk down the aisle
And turn to your mother and give me a smile
And we will know we’d made it, we got through it all
You’re in your beautiful wedding gown and your walking tall
I know I will shed a tear, okay maybe a few
As you stand with your beloved to say I do.
~:~
Cause I’ll be the proud mother,
The mother of the bride
And I will be bursting, bursting with pride
The dark days will have gone, a distant memory
And you will be healthy and happy you’ll see
~:~
Cause you are a woman that’s beautiful and kind
A daughter I love and proud you are mine
